If your pet is on long-term medication you can order a Repeat Prescription Online.

This means ordering your pets repeat medication has never been easier. Through our website you have 24 hour access ordering medication, veterinary diets, supplements as well as flea and worm treatments

Each application for a repeat prescription (however it is received) has to be checked against the animal’s history by a veterinary surgeon and Initialled as this is a legal requirement. Therefore, as the applications have to be processed carefully, we need adequate time to complete the dispensing. Please allow at least 2 working days (this excludes weekends and Bank Holidays), for your request to be processed.

How to - Step by step guide

Ask any animal lover and they will tell you, their pets are family and there are
not many things in life we love more, so contributing towards their health care is a very valuable gift.

There are two main infectious diseases seen in rabbits which we can vaccinate against.

The first is myxomatosis and the second is viral haemorrhagic disease(vhd), also called rabbit haemorrhagic disease (rhd).

Both are caused by viruses and both can kill rabbits.

Our Poppies on 4 Paws Appeal runs until November the 11th and we are asking pet owners to show their support by displaying a special clip on poppy on their dog’s collar or harness. These poppies are plastic, quite durable and florescent so perfectly suitable for a dog to wear.

Dogs truly are man’s best friend, they have for many years and still do serve alongside human soldiers so it’s appropriate that we should in return, show our support and thanks by commemorating them in this way.

Forrest Update

We are aware of several views on this subject on social media.

In our opinion ice cubes are ok to give dogs, but not necessary, cool drinking water and paddling pools etc are sufficient.

Cant believe it - we have reached the finals of this national competition!

It has come to our attention that concerns have been raised by members of the
public about the use of NexGard / NexGard Spectra to treat our dogs against
ticks and fleas.

Facebook is a valuable tool for circulating information, however, the NexGard
information in the post we saw is not validated nor put into context and so has
led to confusion and unnecessary concern. As you will see later in this article not treating your pet may actually be detrimental to its health.

If your pet seems to be itching and scratching a bit more than usual there is a good chance it could be fleas!

That’s why we are offering a FREE Flea and Tick check with one of our nurses.

Over the past two years there have been increasing reports of a new variant of VHD, VHD-2 which is not covered by the combined vaccination. So to protect against this new variant we have a second vaccination which needs to be given every 6 months.
The first vaccination clinic will be held next Tuesday the 30th May between 11am and 3pm. If you would like to book you rabbit in please contact us on 01502 578999. If you can’t make this date you can still contact us and register your interest for future vaccination clinics.

The team at Wangford have adopted a 12 year old practice cat named Billy

The party lasts just over an hour and is free of charge. Vets and nurses from the practice will be talking about some of the aspects of caring for a puppy to ensure it grows into a healthy adult dog including neutering and dental care.

We have designed our own Pet Home Alone key-rings and cards and will be giving them away to clients. The idea is supported by the Halesworth Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Many more dogs, who were previously unregistered, are now chipped, however, lots people either simply forget to update their pets details on the microchip database or hesitate when they find out there is an additional cost of £15 to do so.

Vaccination Amnesty!
Throughout October 2016 we are offering the full vaccination course for the price of a booster. So long as the first vaccination has been administered and paid for in October, two/three weeks later the second vaccination will be given free of charge.

When we launched our competition, in the beginning of July we simply had no idea of the amount of absolutely beautiful photos we would receive, it has been fantastic and I am just glad that the competition was voted for by the public and not us. We loved hearing about your pets too, many of these turned out to me so moving and really showed what a big part that our pets play in our everyday lives and just how much we love them.

This warning comes after Suffolk County Council’s Trading Standards team have quarantined a Bichon Frise puppy after it was discovered it had been brought into the UK illegally, unbeknown to her owners who live in Stowmarket.

She is 10 ½ years old and is quite nervous due to only ever living with one elderly lady since she was a kitten. Unfortunately her owner now has to go into a care home and the cat must be found a home in the next two weeks!

There are a total of 8 beaches listed where dogs are allowed and a further 5 where dogs are restricted in Suffolk.

It’s that time of year again, time to get up and go with team Strutt Your Mutt – join the hundreds of others who will be taking part with their dogs to raise funds for our two wonderful charities , Dogs for Good (previously called Dogs for the Disabled) and Pets as Therapy. This family fun day brings people together and celebrates the unique relationship that we share with our dogs.

Puppies learn a lot when they play. We provide a safe place for them to socialise and have a positive encounter with other pups. They also get to meet our vets and nurses while experiencing a variety of new sights, sounds and smells. Things we take for granted - like hats or umbrellas - or men with beards - can seem strange and maybe even scary to young dogs. At the puppy party they’ll encounter these things and more - they’ll even learn about letters coming through the letterbox and landing on the floor!

Hearing dogs can literally transform people’s lives – a dog gives a deaf person the independence to go out without feeling alone or self-conscious

Animal charities tell us: “Christmas is always a sad time of year – more dogs are brought in during this time and it can be difficult re-homing them, not least because families have little money left at this year to take on the responsibility and cost of a new pet.

All rescue homes/ charities are completely reliant on the generosity of the public to feed homeless dogs and cats 365 days a year and that amounts to enormous quantities of food that have to be found.

Six members of the team from Wangford Vets got together with friends, family and clients to walk from Southwold to Thorpeness along the beach.

The Veterinary Awards are often referred to as the 'Oscars' of the veterinary industry and last year we had such a fantastic response that we thought we would have another go.
