Access for Disabled Visitors to Wangford Veterinary Clinic

We welcome every visitor equally regardless of their physical, sensory or mental capacity. We are, however, honest about our rural location and the limitation that this can impose.

We aim to always provide a quality service within these limitations and continually strive to improve, so that as many people as possible can access veterinary services for their pets.

We currently offer

Pre-visit

Clients and visitors with disabilities are encouraged to seek advice and assistance – our practice team is willing to supply any information that may be helpful in planning your visit. Please phone or email using the email address/ numbers at the bottom of the page.

The Practice

  • The main entrance door has no step and is of adequate width for a wheelchair, and with a call prior to your visit a team member can be on hand to assist by opening the door.
  • The centre of the reception desk is low, and you will easily be able to talk to reception staff.
  • Please ask if you would like a member of the practice team to hold your pet for you while you are waiting.
  • Please ask if you would like help when you are called in to the vet or nurse.
  • Trained first aid personnel are available at all times.
  • Wangford Vet team members are clearly identifiable by their uniform and badge.

Access to consultation rooms

  • Currently all our consultation rooms are located on the ground floor with no ramps or steps, ensuring ease of access for our disabled clients.

If our facilities change in the future, we can ensure you that we will always maintain access to ground floor consultations for disabled clients to see our vets and nurses. Our aim is to ensure that all clients with their pets can receive the care needed in a comfortable and accessible environment.

Communication

  • We aim to communicate with our clients in any way that best takes into account their disability. We can communicate via email as an alternative to telephone.
  • Consent forms are usually emailed to clients in advance of a procedure, can be printed in a larger font if required or read to the client by one of our team.

Toilet Facilities

  • There is a client toilet facility just off the main reception area. It is designed to accommodate people with disabilities and includes handrails for support and manoeuvrability. It also offers extra space to ensure ease of movement for wheelchair users and those requiring assistance. The layout and low-level hand washing, allows for comfortable access to all facilities, ensuring a safe and dignified experience for all users.
  • A directional sign for the toilet is clearly visible from our reception.
