Walter hates to waste anything and has decided to start saving stamps for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
Hearing dogs can literally transform people’s lives – a dog gives a deaf person the independence to go out without feeling alone or self-conscious. In the home a trained dog can alert deaf people to sounds they can’t hear. Sounds we take for granted like the doorbell, alarm clock and even danger signals like the fire alarm!
If you would like to help us and start collecting stamps from parcels, postcards and letters and to help, just drop them into reception next time you are passing. It helps the charity considerably if you trim them so there is only about 1 cm of paper around each stamp.
Hearing dogs for deaf people say there is a lot of interest in used stamps from both artists and collectors, with the British stamps being particularly popular because of the variety.
7kg of stamps is equal to over £100 for the charity.
