… your award winning, independent small animal practice

Have you ever wondered about their role in the practice?

Many of you will have already met Sarah and Toby our Animal Care Assistants (ACAs) when you have visited us. Both play an important part within our team, helping to provide you and your pets with the best service and care possible.

Our care assistants not only assist the vets and nurses where needed, they are very much involved with the patient care of your pet, ensuring that they are comfortable in their hospital kennel, giving reassuring care to your dog, cat or small furry. Both Sarah and Toby carefully help to monitor patients following their surgeries as well as assisting with the care of those who are unwell. They take the dogs out for their toilet breaks when needed and offer lots of fuss and attention to all patients large and small.

They are excellent laboratory technicians, running bloods and urine samples to ensure our lab results come through as quickly as possible. Both are trained in pharmacy dispensing, and the people who ensure all your medication is ready and waiting for collection, whether for daytime consultations, hospital patients or repeat-prescription orders.

You will often see Sarah and Toby if your pet is in for laser therapy as both are trained K Laser operatives. This is a non-invasive therapy used for many conditions involving inflammation, for example, arthritis and wound management.

Sarah has a degree in Animal Science and Welfare and has a particular interest in behavioural issues, she also has a keen interest in wildlife that is admitted to the hospital. She is responsible for the care and maintenance of our laboratory.

Toby has a Level 2 Animal Care Qualification and is currently working on the Level 3 Animal Behaviour Certificate. He also orders all our drugs and stock, which as you can imagine is a huge responsibility.
